Why that is the answer
The Highway Code advises positioning your vehicle well to the left as you approach a left turn. This clearly indicates your intention to other road users and stops cyclists or motorcyclists from trying to pass you on the inside. You must never swing out to the right before making the turn, as this can confuse following drivers into thinking you are turning right and creates a serious hazard for oncoming traffic.
How this comes up in the real test
