The conditions, in plain English

The point of the sign-off condition is not to wriggle out of claims. It is to stop learners booking a test before they are ready, which is the single biggest cause of first-time fails.

How a claim works, step by step
1. Send us your test report
Photograph or scan the DVSA driving test report the examiner handed you at the end of the test and email it to us within 14 days. It lists every fault by category, which is what your instructor works from.
2. We check the course record
We look at the hours delivered, your instructor's test-ready sign-off and your mock test results. This normally takes two working days, and we tell you either way — approved, or exactly which condition was not met.
3. Your instructor plans the hours
The free hours are targeted at the faults on your report. Two serious faults on observation at junctions means junction work, not a general drive around.
4. You retest
We help you find the earliest realistic slot, allowing time to actually fix the faults first. Booking a retest for next week when you need three more sessions is how people fail twice.
Roughly half of all UK practical tests end in a fail, and the DVSA's own fault data shows the same handful of categories appearing again and again: observation at junctions, use of mirrors when changing direction, steering control, and response to traffic lights. Almost none of those are talent problems. They are habit problems, and habits are fixed with targeted practice on the roads where they went wrong.
That is the thinking behind the guarantee. It is not a marketing promise about the examiner's decision — it is a commitment that you will not pay twice for preparation you already paid for once, provided you did everything the course asked of you. Guarantee questions
Do you guarantee I will pass my driving test?
No, and no driving school can. The DVSA examiner decides the outcome. What our guarantee covers is the cost of preparation: if you completed your course, were signed off as test-ready and still did not pass, we cover up to four extra tuition hours before your retest.
How many free hours do I get?
Up to four hours of tuition, targeted at the faults recorded on your DVSA test report, plus a full debrief of the examiner's marking sheet with your instructor.
Is the DVSA retest fee covered?
No. The retest fee is paid to the DVSA, not to us — currently £62 for a weekday practical test. We cover tuition, not government fees, and we would rather say that plainly than bury it in the small print.
What if my instructor did not sign me off as test-ready?
Then the guarantee does not apply, because the course was not completed as designed. If you choose to sit a test against your instructor's advice, you can still buy additional hours at the standard hourly rate.
How long do I have to claim?
14 days from the date of the test. Send your DVSA test report with the claim so your instructor can plan the hours around the faults recorded.
Does the guarantee apply twice?
The guarantee covers one retest per course booked. If you need further preparation after that, your instructor will quote at the standard published hourly rate with no mark-up.
