Why that is the answer
The Highway Code states that at night you must park facing the direction of the traffic flow. This ensures your vehicle's rear reflectors catch the headlights of approaching traffic. The only exception is on a one-way street, where traffic moves in the same direction on both sides. Parking on the right on a two-way road is unsafe and illegal, regardless of whether you use sidelights or park near a lamppost.
