Why that is the answer
The Highway Code states that you must not dazzle other road users. You should dip your headlights as soon as the overtaking vehicle passes you. Keeping your main beam on will reflect in their mirrors and blind the driver ahead. Do not dip them before they pass, as you need to maintain a clear view of the road while they are alongside.
How this comes up in the real test
Questions from rules of the road appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions.
