Why that is the answer
The Highway Code advises drivers to give priority to buses when they signal to pull away from a stop, provided it is safe to do so. Helping them re-join the traffic flow keeps public transport moving efficiently. You should never speed past to beat the bus. Avoid flashing your headlights or waving, as this can be misunderstood by other road users, creating a serious hazard.
