Why that is the answer
If you are already on the level crossing when the amber light comes on and the warning sounds, you must keep going to clear the tracks safely. Stopping or trying to reverse back creates a severe hazard, leaving your vehicle stranded in the path of an oncoming train. The Highway Code states you should only stop if you have not yet crossed the stop line when the signal starts.
How this comes up in the real test
