Three ways to pay for a course
Deposit now, balance later
Pay a deposit to hold your instructor and start date. The balance is due before your first session, and you can settle it by any method on this page.
Pay in full
Settle the whole course in one payment when you book. Nothing else to think about, and your hours are locked at the price you were quoted.
Instalments
Split the cost with Klarna or Clearpay at checkout. Interest-free where the provider offers it, subject to status and their approval.

How paying for a course actually works
Deposit first, balance before you start
Most learners pay a deposit to hold an instructor and a set of dates, then settle the balance before the first session. The deposit is what stops two people being promised the same week in the same town, which matters far more on intensive courses than on weekly lessons.
You can also pay in full at booking if you would rather have it done. Neither route changes the price — there is no discount for paying up front and no surcharge for not doing so.
Spreading the cost
Klarna and Clearpay let you split the course into interest-free instalments, subject to their eligibility checks rather than ours. They are credit agreements with the provider, so approval, affordability and any late fees are set by them and we have no influence over the decision.
If you are declined, nothing is lost: the booking simply reverts to card or PayPal, and you can still pay a deposit and settle the balance later.
What the price includes and what it does not
Course prices cover tuition hours with a DVSA-approved instructor in a dual-control car, insured for you to drive during lessons, plus the admin of matching and scheduling. There is no booking fee, no card fee and no charge for rescheduling within the notice period.
The DVSA practical test fee is separate and goes to the government, not to us — £62 for a weekday test at the time of writing in 2026. The theory test fee, currently £23, is also paid direct to the DVSA when you book through GOV.UK.
Security and protection
Card payments are processed by regulated payment providers over an encrypted connection, and we never see or store your full card number. Paying by credit card may also give you Section 75 protection through your bank, and debit card payments may qualify for chargeback.
Our refund policy includes a 14-day cooling-off period from booking, and the cancellation policy sets out the notice needed to move dates without losing hours.
If money is tight
Booking fewer hours than you need is the most expensive way to save money, because a failed test costs the fee, the wait for a new slot and refresher hours in between. If the full course is out of reach right now, a shorter course plus added hours later at the same rate is cheaper than a fail.

Payment questions
Do I have to pay for the whole course up front?
No. You can pay a deposit to secure your instructor and dates, with the balance due before your course starts, or spread the full cost with Klarna or Clearpay where you are eligible.
Is there a booking fee or admin charge?
No. The price you see on the course page is the price you pay. The only extra is the DVSA test fee, which is paid to the DVSA and is £62 for a weekday practical test at the time of writing.
Is my payment protected?
Payments are handled by regulated payment providers over an encrypted connection. We never see or store your full card number. Card payments may also carry chargeback or Section 75 protection through your bank.
Can I get my money back?
Yes, under the terms of our refund policy — including a 14-day cooling-off period from booking.
