Why that is the answer
Under standard rules, passing your car driving test automatically gives you category B entitlement. This allows you to tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of up to 3,500kg. MAM is the maximum weight the trailer is designed to weigh when fully loaded. Towing heavier trailer combinations, such as those weighing 4,000kg or more, requires additional licence entitlements and larger vehicles.
How this comes up in the real test
