Tick the box when you book, or tell us on the phone. There is no extra charge, no waiting list surcharge and no reason you need to give.
It is one of the most common requests we get. For some learners it is a matter of religion or culture, for others it is comfort in a small enclosed space with a stranger for two hours at a time, and for plenty it is simply a preference. All of those are fine.
If you would prefer a female instructor for the first few lessons and are open either way afterwards, say that too — we can work with it.
Availability, honestly
Around one in seven approved driving instructors in the UK is female, so availability is genuinely tighter than for male instructors.
Coverage is good in cities and larger towns, and thinner in rural areas. In some postcodes a female instructor may have a two to three week wait where a male instructor could start next week.
We will tell you what the real wait is in your area before you pay anything. If we cannot match you, we say so rather than taking a booking and hoping.
The same standard either way
Every instructor on our network holds a DVSA green badge as a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor, and we check the badge and its expiry ourselves rather than taking a copy at face value.
That includes an enhanced DBS check, valid insurance for tuition, and a dual-control car that is taxed, MOT'd and roadworthy.
Female instructors are available for both manual and automatic tuition, and for refresher lessons with full licence holders.
What's included either way
- A DVSA-approved instructor with a verified green badge
- Dual-control car, fully insured for learner drivers
- Pick-up and drop-off at home, work or college
- Free access to our theory test practice hub
Common questions
Can I request a female driving instructor?
Yes. Tick the option when booking or mention it on the phone. There is no extra charge and you do not need to give a reason.
Does a female instructor cost more?
No. Our hourly rates are identical regardless of which instructor you are matched with.
Are female driving instructors available everywhere?
Coverage is strong in cities and larger towns and thinner in rural areas — roughly one in seven UK instructors is female. We will tell you the realistic wait in your postcode before you book.
Can I have a female instructor for automatic lessons?
Yes, subject to local availability. Tell us you want automatic tuition with a female instructor and we will check what is free in your area.
