Why that is the answer
When a police officer behind you flashes their headlights and points to the left, they are directing you to pull over. You should signal and pull up on the left-hand side of the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Stopping immediately could be dangerous, and turning at the next junction is not what is being asked. The Highway Code requires you to comply with directions given by police officers.
How this comes up in the real test
