Why that is the answer
An amber light on its own means you must stop at the stop line. You may only continue if you have already crossed the line, or are so close that stopping suddenly might cause a collision. Do not confuse a single amber light with red and amber showing together, which tells you to prepare to set off. The Highway Code states that an amber light means stop.
How this comes up in the real test
