Why that is the answer
Under the New Drivers Act, your licence will be automatically revoked if you get six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first practical test. You will revert to learner status and must apply for a new provisional licence. To drive independently again, you cannot just retake one test; you must successfully pass both the theory and practical tests from scratch.
