Why that is the answer
A broken white line in the middle of the road with longer lines and shorter gaps warns you that you are approaching a hazard, such as a bend or junction. You may cross this line to overtake if necessary, but only if the road ahead is clear and it is safe to do so. Unlike a continuous solid white line, it does not strictly prohibit crossing or overtaking.
How this comes up in the real test
