Why that is the answer
The number 3 on a motorway sign indicates the junction number you are approaching. Motorway junctions are numbered sequentially to help drivers navigate and plan their routes effectively. It does not show the distance to the exit or the number of lanes, as distances are displayed on separate countdown markers and lanes are indicated by arrows. Knowing your exit junction number allows you to prepare and position your vehicle safely, following Highway Code guidance.
How this comes up in the real test
