Why that is the answer
You must deactivate the frontal airbag before travelling with a rear-facing baby seat in the front passenger seat. If the airbag deploys in a collision, it will strike the child seat with immense force, causing severe or fatal injury. Never ask a passenger to hold a baby on their lap, and do not turn a baby seat forward-facing. The Highway Code strictly forbids using active airbags with rear-facing child restraints.
