Why that is the answer
Children under 1.35 metres tall must normally use a correct child restraint. However, in an unexpected journey over a short distance, a child aged three or over is permitted to travel in the rear seat using an adult seatbelt. You must never allow a child to share a seatbelt with an adult, as this is extremely dangerous and illegal.
