Why that is the answer

Alcohol takes time to leave your body, so drinking at lunchtime can still impair your driving later in the evening. Eating a hot meal or drinking milk might slow down alcohol absorption, but it will not speed up how quickly it leaves your system. The Highway Code warns that any amount of alcohol affects your reaction times and judgement. The only safe choice when driving later is to avoid consuming alcoholic drinks entirely.
