You have been involved in a collision. Which document may police ask you to produce?

DVSA-style practice question · Incidents, accidents and emergencies

    The answer options

    • Your service history
    • Your theory test certificate
    • Your vehicle registration document (V5C)
    • Your driving licenceCorrect

    Why that is the answer

Following a collision, police officers have the legal authority to check that you are qualified and insured to drive. They may ask to see your driving licence, along with your MOT and insurance certificates, to verify your identity and entitlement to be on the road. While your vehicle registration document proves who owns the car, it does not confirm that you are legally allowed to drive it.

How this comes up in the real test

Questions from incidents, accidents and emergencies appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions. Learn the rule rather than the sentence: the DVSA can ask the same point from the opposite direction, and a memorised answer falls over the moment the phrasing moves.

The pass mark is 43 out of 50, so seven wrong answers is your entire margin. If a whole category is shaky, run the topic practice below until you are getting every question right for the right reason, then go back to full mocks under the clock.
