Why that is the answer

Drivers make mistakes, so you must stay calm and forgive their error. Reacting aggressively by sounding your horn, flashing your headlights, or executing a hasty overtake will only distract you and could escalate the situation into road rage. DVSA guidance and the Highway Code advise that horns should only be used to warn others of your presence, not to express anger. Simply drop back to a safe distance and continue driving safely.

How this comes up in the real test

Questions from hazard awareness appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions.
