Why that is the answer
Motorcyclists perform a final shoulder check, often known as the lifesaver glance, to check their blind spot before turning right. Although motorcycles have mirrors, these do not cover all angles behind and alongside the rider. The Highway Code emphasises the importance of checking blind spots, as another vehicle could be overtaking them just as they begin the turn. Looking around is a vital safety check, not a way to improve balance.
