Where would you see this sign?

DVSA-style practice question · Vulnerable Road Users

Illustration for the theory test question: Where would you see this sign?

    The answer options

    • At a playground
    • At the side of the road
    • In the window of a car carrying children
    • On a school bus or coach at the rearCorrect

    Why that is the answer

This yellow retroreflective sign is displayed at the front and rear of buses and coaches carrying children to or from school. It warns other road users that children may be getting on or off the bus and crossing the road nearby. Do not confuse this with roadside warning signs, which are triangular with a red border and placed on posts near schools or playgrounds to warn of permanent hazards.

How this comes up in the real test

Questions from vulnerable road users appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions. Learn the rule rather than the sentence: the DVSA can ask the same point from the opposite direction, and a memorised answer falls over the moment the phrasing moves.

The pass mark is 43 out of 50, so seven wrong answers is your entire margin. If a whole category is shaky, run the topic practice below until you are getting every question right for the right reason, then go back to full mocks under the clock.
