Why that is the answer
Overtaking as you approach a junction is dangerous because vehicles could pull out onto the main road without seeing you, or the vehicle ahead might suddenly turn right. The Highway Code specifically advises against overtaking at or when approaching junctions. You can safely overtake on one-way streets, hills, or single carriageways, provided visibility is clear, road markings allow it, and you can complete the manoeuvre safely.
How this comes up in the real test
