Why that is the answer
The Highway Code advises that before turning right onto a dual carriageway, you must check whether the central reservation is wide enough for your vehicle. If it is, you can wait there for a safe gap in the oncoming traffic. If the gap is too narrow, your vehicle will overhang and block traffic, so you must wait until traffic in both directions is clear before moving out.
