Why that is the answer
Toucan crossings are unique because cyclists can ride across them alongside pedestrians, without needing to dismount. A useful memory aid is that two can cross together. On other pedestrian crossings, such as pelican or puffin crossings, cyclists must dismount and push their bikes. Mopeds are motorised vehicles and are never permitted on pedestrian crossings, and toucan crossings use standard signal sequences rather than flashing lights.
