Why that is the answer
Trailers and caravans must meet the same legal tyre safety requirements as cars. The minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread and around the entire outer circumference. Anything less than 1.6mm reduces grip and increases the risk of skidding, especially in wet weather.
