Why that is the answer
Yellow zigzag lines outside a school indicate that you must not wait or park there. The Highway Code sets out these rules to keep the area clear so children can see and be seen when crossing the road. You must not stop on these lines to pick up or drop off passengers, even briefly, and remaining inside your vehicle makes no difference. Always find a safe, legal spot to park elsewhere.
How this comes up in the real test
Questions from vulnerable road users appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions.
