Why that is the answer
Removing a motorcyclist's helmet can cause severe neck or spinal damage, potentially making a head or neck injury much worse. You should only remove the helmet if it is essential to clear their airway so they can breathe. Although keeping an injured casualty warm is an important part of first aid, avoiding further trauma to the spine takes priority until trained medical professionals arrive on the scene.
