Why that is the answer
Wet road surfaces reduce tyre grip, which increases your braking distance and means your overall stopping distance will at least double in heavy rain. You should double your usual safe separation distance to at least four seconds. Do not confuse wet weather with icy or snowy conditions, which can increase your stopping distance by up to ten times.
How this comes up in the real test
