# Which vehicle type would be most likely to take an unexpected course at a roundabout?

DVSA-style practice question · Rules of the Road

## The answer options

- Milk float
- Delivery van
- Estate car
- Long vehicle**Correct**

## Why that is the answer

Long vehicles need extra space to turn safely at roundabouts. Because of their length, they may need to swing out wide before entering or position themselves across more than one lane to complete the manoeuvre without clipping the kerb. The Highway Code advises drivers to give large vehicles plenty of room and not assume they will stay in a single lane, unlike smaller cars or delivery vans.

## How this comes up in the real test

Questions from rules of the road appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions. Learn the rule rather than the sentence: the DVSA can ask the same point from the opposite direction, and a memorised answer falls over the moment the phrasing moves.

The pass mark is 43 out of 50, so seven wrong answers is your entire margin. If a whole category is shaky, run the topic practice below until you are getting every question right for the right reason, then go back to full mocks under the clock.

## Passed your theory? Get the practical booked

Your theory certificate lasts two years. Most learners who use it quickly do it with an intensive course — a block of hours with a DVSA approved instructor and a practical test at the end, instead of one lesson a week for months.
