# How can you reduce the chances of your car being broken into when leaving it unattended?

DVSA-style practice question · Safety and your Vehicle

## The answer options

- Take all valuables with you**Correct**
- Park near a fire station
- Place any valuables on the floor
- Park near a taxi rank

## Why that is the answer

Taking all your valuables with you is the most effective way to prevent a break-in, as it removes temptation for opportunist thieves. Leaving items on the floor or hidden under seats still risks attracting attention if someone looks inside. Parking near fire stations or taxi ranks does not guarantee security. DVSA guidance advises locking your vehicle and taking all personal belongings with you every time you leave it unattended.

## How this comes up in the real test

Questions from safety and your vehicle appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions. Learn the rule rather than the sentence: the DVSA can ask the same point from the opposite direction, and a memorised answer falls over the moment the phrasing moves.

The pass mark is 43 out of 50, so seven wrong answers is your entire margin. If a whole category is shaky, run the topic practice below until you are getting every question right for the right reason, then go back to full mocks under the clock.

## Passed your theory? Get the practical booked

Your theory certificate lasts two years. Most learners who use it quickly do it with an intensive course — a block of hours with a DVSA approved instructor and a practical test at the end, instead of one lesson a week for months.
