# Before leaving your vehicle unattended, what should you remove from it?

DVSA-style practice question · Safety and your Vehicle

## The answer options

- The car service record
- The owner's manual
- The vehicle registration document (V5C)**Correct**
- The dealer's details

## Why that is the answer

You should never leave the vehicle registration document (V5C) in an unattended car. If your vehicle is stolen, leaving the V5C inside makes it significantly easier for a thief to sell the car fraudulently or claim legal ownership. While items like the owner's manual or service record are useful to keep in the glovebox, official ownership documentation should always be stored securely at home, as advised by DVSA guidance.

## How this comes up in the real test

Questions from safety and your vehicle appear throughout the 50-question multiple-choice section, and the wording changes between versions. Learn the rule rather than the sentence: the DVSA can ask the same point from the opposite direction, and a memorised answer falls over the moment the phrasing moves.

The pass mark is 43 out of 50, so seven wrong answers is your entire margin. If a whole category is shaky, run the topic practice below until you are getting every question right for the right reason, then go back to full mocks under the clock.

## Passed your theory? Get the practical booked

Your theory certificate lasts two years. Most learners who use it quickly do it with an intensive course — a block of hours with a DVSA approved instructor and a practical test at the end, instead of one lesson a week for months.
