Some vehicles carry specific markings that tell other road users something important about their size, load, or behaviour, and recognising these quickly helps you judge how much space and caution to allow. This is a smaller theory test topic but appears reliably in vehicle-and-load or vehicle-safety style questions. Mock tests often ask learners to identify what a particular plate or panel means from an image, so it helps to know the small set of markings that come up repeatedly rather than trying to memorise every possible variant. ## Long vehicle markings A yellow rectangular plate reading 'LONG VEHICLE' on the rear of a lorry or trailer combination warns that the vehicle needs significantly more room to turn and may swing wide, particularly at junctions and roundabouts.
